    Pivot Table Blank Cells

    Hello everyone!

I have just come across a rather strange problem!

Ive got some pivot tables in my workbook - Ive noticed that whenever I select limited data in the pivot table, the rest of the cells become blank (and white!)

    The original:

    \1

    And after a selection:

    \1

Notice those blank cells? Is there anyway of keeping them yellow like the rest of my page? I tried colouring them in..then tried doing a selection from the pivot table and they became blank again

As far as I can tell without an actual workbook, is that you deselecting viewing Test2 information, so the Pivot table "lost" a column.....

Yea..but is there no way of keeping the format behind those columns? It looks strange to have some white cells! :S

If you are using XL2003 and you only formatted the original Pivot Table area, then if you filter the Pivot table, the colouring should be confined to the table as you have shown. I don't know what you mean by the "white cells". Are they not the background colours of the default sheet?. Did you preformat the area? If so, unformat the area "under" the pivot table.

No..the background colour is yellow. When the columns "disappear", the yellow background should appear..but it doesnt..it shows a blank white cell instead.
I didnt quite understand what you said there :S

The pivot table takes over the area you put it in, and overwrites the format you had in there before. Maybe if you conditionally format the area with condition Cell Value Is >> Equal To >> ="" , then perhaps you can maintain the background... but it might also affect some cells within the Pivot Table....
