    Colouring filtered rows problem

    Hi All

I've got a new lap at work and I'm experiencing problems colouring filtered rows. The unfiltered rows in between are also being coloured.

I filter, then bulk colour the selected rows (by highlighting the row numbers in bulk, not individually). When I unfilter, all of the rows between the filteres rows are also coloured.

eg, I have 100 rows, I filter and get rows 25, 30 and 35. I colour those rows, unfilter and all rows between 25 and 35 are coloured.

I know I can colour the few rows separately in this instance, but in reality I'm working with several thousand rows and this would be unpractical

I never had this problem with my old Excel set up so assume it's a feature I can correct.

    Here's hoping...

In addition... It's also inconsistent whereby sometimes it's letting me colour filtered rows and other times it won't allow it. Any idea why this is happening?

When your filter is on, select your range to colour,
Edit>Goto (or Ctl+G) click Special button , select 'Visible cells only' then OK
    Now apply color you want.

    Thanks Sadath31

I should have said, I'm working on Excel 2007 so no longer have the edit/goto option, but I have found the 'Select Visible Cells' option and added it to my Quick Access Area.

I've tested it on a few different spreadsheets and this works, unfortunately I have to keep selecting the Select Visible Cells button each time.

Is there a way I can get this option saved in my generic settings for all of my excel work?

    Many thanks in advance...
