    Pasted objects go astray

I'm drawing rudimentary floor plans in Excel 2003.

Rather than create a new line segment of the proper length, width, style and color, I often want to copy and paste.

    Unfortunately ...

Well the copy works fine but when I paste, the second line segment appears far from wher e I want it, far from my last click. Usually lands in a nearby column but a couple of hundred rows away.

Is there a way to make the pasting of an object like a line segment end up in a particular spot, or at least a nearby area?

    Thanks.

Try selecting the object, then hold down the ctrl key on the keyboard and drag and drop the object. It should paste a copy where you let go of it.
