    Working out a decreasing price

    Hi there.

I'm new to excel and trying to learn.

I need to work out a way to give prices where:

A journey is 10 dollars for the first 2 miles, then 2.50 for miles 3-25, then 2.20 for miles 26-50, then 1.60 for miles 51-100 and lastly 1.10 for miles from 101 to infinity.

How would I begin to approach such a formula within excel?

    Thanks

Hi and welcome to the board

Are the number of miles rounded up or down?

    Hi there.

Thanks for replying, the number of miles is rounded up for pricing. A journey of 100.1 miles is priced at 101 miles.

    Thanks

EDIT: Sorry for quoting your post

    Thanks so so so much.

I am really really pleased with this, I've tried to play with it and it seems to be totally accurate.

I really hope it is, as I will be using the formulae to price up taxi journeys for an account client at work.

    You have made my day!
