    Counting Based on other columns

    Hi,
Im pulling my hair out trying to get my head around this!

I have 5 teams, I want to know how many sales have been made to members, what channel members used most, and how many extras have they brought...

    so ie,

    team b - 5 members - 3 telephone sales - 2 cables - 1 cartridge

    Thanks for any guidance!

    Take a look at this:
    http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/count-if.htm

Dcount, to me, is the easiest to use. It does take a range of cell devoted to criteria, but it is very simple to set up.

Sumproduct is a very popular solution as well. It is nice because it is not dependant on defining the criteria in another range. Criteria is all defined in the formula.

You might want to use Pivot Tables, they are easy to use (although sometimes difficult to get them to do exactly what you want them to do). Take a look at the one I created for your example.

    Another couple of approaches
    1/. Select the Team from a Drop-down

2/. Use sub-totals with filters. This has the advantage of being able to combine several Team results.

    Hope this helps
