    Selecting Multiple Columns Individually

I've done a fair amount of searching and have yet to find a quick and easy way to select multiple columns individually. Mainly I'm looking to select a large number of columns to insert new columns between without disturbing currently merged cells or having to go through and Ctrl-Click each individual column in the range where I want new columns. I.E. - Columns C through Z have data with merged header cells. I can go through and Ctrl-click each column individually, right click Insert and it will add columns between each. However if I select Columns C through Z as a range vs. individual, Insert will just add 20+ columns before the current data.

I've tried the method of adding a row above the data with a series of 1 to X-number of columns, copying range to right of data, and sorting, but the merged header cells cause it to error out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I think the answer is in the question ... get rid of the merged cells and think again.
