    Count Number Of Elapsed Months

Hi, I want to set up a formula to calculate number of elapsed months in excel. Eg how many whole months have elapsed since Jan 2011 to April 2011 to return the number 4.

    Could you help please?

How are you entering your start and stop dates? Are they entered in cells (i.e. A1, A2) as dates?

    I'm adding them as dates.

A1 = 01/01/2011 although formatted to appear as Jan 11
A2 = 01/04/2011 although formatted to appear as Apr 11

    See DATEDIF function

In truest sense elapsed months for you sample dates would be 3 rather than 4.

If the latter date (A2) is to be seen as representing that month in it's entirety (ie all of April) then add 1 to the above result
