    Decimal Place

    Hi

My Excel 2011 Mac has decided that I need to always type a dot after I enter a number.

If I just type 23 and hit enter, the cell will show 0.23, I need to type 23. in order to get 23

    Any ideas?

    Thank you in advance.

    Re: Decimal Place

Go to Excel options --> advanced. There is a check box that says "automatically insert a decimal point". Clear the check box.

I don't have the MAC version but hopefully the menus are the same or similar in both.

    Regards.

Thank you for that but the mac version seems to be different; I have preferences in this and there is no option to untick this box. Searching the help does not help either!

This may help, although I don't have a Mac:

    Re: Decimal Place

Note that I found this by using Google: Mac Excel Decimal Point

The post relates to the Fixed Decimal Places setting.

There are other results that might be of interest, notably a Mac forum where this exact issue is discussed.

    Re: Decimal Place

Thank you. I see it now but it is cunningly hidden as 'Display this number of decimal places'

This has been driving me nuts for months!
