    Pasting into ONE cell

    Greets!

I have some data with a couple thousand lines I paste into excel. Each line is like below. Sometimes I can get all this data into ONE cell wich in this case is what I want, however sometimes when I paste it goes and seperates into cells seperating the cells where ever there is a space.

How do you go back and fourth with this functionality.

    3732.019233 350.188560 620.812358 0.000000 0.025436 0.999676 BS_00214 0 0 1 __NO_CONFIG__ -1 999.000000 999.000000 999.000000 point2 999.000000 999.000000 999.000000

I can't tell what you want. Are you saying that it is actually in one cell or several? Data will spread across cells if no data is in the adjacent cell, but it is actually in one cell
    Hope that helps.

Thats for the quick reply, I understand the seeing of the data that is longer than once cell if there is no data in the cells after, however when I paste it is getting seperated by the spaces and it placed in different cells seperated by the spaces.

    / 3732.019233 / 350.188560 / 620.812358 /

    compared to

    / 3732.019233 350.188560 620.812358 /

    I hope that makes sense.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

The single zero columns have more than a single zero in your "I want" example than in the "what I get" example. You will have to format each column, then use the "&" symbol to concatenate the individual cells in each row into single strings.

    Re: Pasting into ONE cell

I can get that done easily, however the difference is SOMETIMES when I paste these lines into excel I get the first example. Which is what I want. However sometimes I get the second example without wanting it.

Is there a way to copy from notepad and paste to excel get the results of the first example on a regular basis? I have to be changing something.. or something in the data is changing.

What would cause it to change the way it pastes?
