Formula - How to set a numeric value to a text entry

does anyone know how to set a numeric value to a text entry?

    example
cell 1 "case", is it possible to get cell a2 to return a result of 12?

thanks in advance for the help!

Why 12? I think you need to explain further.

12 was just a random number. I just need the word "case" to equal a set value in another cell - if thats possible.
