    Question 12 highest scores out of the 20

    First post

    Was wondering if anyone can help me out .

    I am using excel 2003

    I am trying to do a spreadsheet that will display approx 20-25 scores.
    These scores will range from 0 (zero) to 55 (fifty five)

    I was wondering if it is possible in Excel to select the 12 (twelve) highest scores for me out of the 20-25 scores??

    e.g d6:y6 will have a variety of scores ranging form 0 to 55
    I want z6 to pick out the top 12 scores (highest) on the d6:y6 range
    and have z6 display a total for the top 12 scores

    HOW DO I DO THIS???

    You could use something along the lines of:

    This assumes per post you always have >= 12 scores

    Re: 12 highest scores out of the 20

    How about this: =SUMIF(D6:Y6, ">="&LARGE(D6:Y6, 12))

    That would return 0 rather then #NUM! for less then 12 entries.
    Never use Merged Cells in Excel

    @zbor, to return 0 I'd suggest a pre-emptive COUNT test.

    Unless you can be sure all values are unique the SUMIF approach is susceptible to error - duplicity of 12th largest value, eg:

    I'm sure you could argue that might the intention...

    You are right... Duplicity over 12 same results return wrong result...

    Didn't go that far, below that is OK
