Corrupt files open and freeze... help!

For whatever reason, I'm having a problem with two important files. I have three copies of the same files, and they all exhibit the same behavior.

They appear to open normally, but all cells are tinted light blue, as if they are all selected. Excel 2010 hangs up, and I have to force quit. Opening up Excel again brings the Document Recover dialog to recover the files, but the same behavior happens.

The last thing I did to the files was to protect all cells, then protect the worksheet. Now they won't even open without hanging up Excel.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Edit: Fixed!

It might be helpful to explain how you fixed this problem for the benefit of others who might experience this behaviour.

Re: Corrupt files open and freeze... help!

I was able to open the two linked files in protected mode, and resave them with new file names.

However, when I opened the main file, I didn't have the option to relink to the new files. I had to delete the original files and rename the new files with the old file names. The main file then linked to the new files.

    Now it all works perfectly!
