    Collating mutiple columns' data

Hi all, I am new to this website so please bear with me. I am trying to collate information from four columns in excel.

The information is a list of amounts, dates and currencies and rates. I was thinking a sumif function?? The data is in no particular order. I need to show a total of each date per currency.

I would like to avoid macros if possible. The data I have at the moment is below

    CCY..........Amount............Date.............Rate
    USD..........200,000..........01/03/11..........0.50
    USD..........100,000..........01/03/11..........0.50
    EUR..........75,000............01/04/11..........0.30
    USD..........50,000............01/04/11..........0.60
    EUR..........100,000..........01/05/11..........0.40
    USD..........100,000..........01/03/11..........0.50

I am looking for a final sheet of...

    CCY..........Amount.............Date.............Rate
    USD..........400,000..........01/03/11..........0.50
    USD..........50,000............01/04/11..........0.60
    EUR..........75,000............01/04/11..........0.30
    EUR..........100,000..........01/05/11..........0.40

I'm sorry for the longwinded explanation!!

    Kind regards
    BW

I think you'd need to use SUMPRODUCT - please see attached.

This would not automatically populate the new table with currency and dates though, this would need to be completed manually or with a macro - all this will do is then take the currency and date and bring back an amount and rate for that day.

If you paste your current data into columns A-D, and you will also need to amend the SUMPRODUCT formula to look at the last line (easiest way to do this would be to highlight cols F-I and ctrl+H to replace '$7' with '$however many lines you want to look in'.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks brokenbiscuits. I have a older version of excel so can't view it, but will have a look in to the sumproduct funtion. Thanks for your help.

My bad - I knew you did too, otherwise I would have used the far simpler SUMIF function!

I've attached as an older version if you want to take a look.
