    Angry Drag and Drop issue

    Hi,

    I think I've managed to turn off/on a function.

Ability to Drag and drop values in cells now only works either horizonally or vertically. I cannot drag and drop values in '3d'.

eg, I can drag data from A1 to Column A or Row 1, but not A1:C3

It's not an F8 toggle issue and Tools.option.'Allow cell drag & drop' is active.

    Any ideas? Driving me nuts.

Do you mean copying a cell by dragging the little black square at the bottom right corner of a cell?

I can't duplicate the problem. Are you dragging the upper left corner so you see the move arrows when you drag the cell?
Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

Yes, basically something has been locked.

Drag and drop using the 'little black square' allows me to drag either down or across.

If I have a value in A1 then I can either drag and copy down column A or row 1. It won't allow me to drag/copy to A1:C3.

I haven't seen this issue before and I can't find an answer on google.

I don't think that can be done.

You need to copy in one direction first, then select the range and copy in the other direction...

    Re: Drag and Drop issue

Wait, I've always been able to copy in '3D'. The guy with excel 2003 sat next to me can.

    Try this:
Highlight cell A1 which has say, num 4 in it.

Now, drag that value to cells A1:C3.

    You can, right?

Right now I can only drag first Down, then separately drag across.

I have 2003, I can drag a cell to any location and it will cut and paste the cell's contents into that cell.....gotta use the upper left hand corner of the grips around the active cell(you will see a "move" type of arrow.<--a four-way arrow

    Re: Drag and Drop issue

Thanks, but I don't want to just move the cell in any direction, but drag it across many cells to copy it, but in both directions simultaneously.

    again,

    in Cell A1 type '4'

Now, use the 'little black box' in the bottom right hand corner of the cell and drag it through A1:C3

    I can't do this.

If you can then what function have I enabled/disabled. If you can't then it must just be me going insane, even though the guy next to me still can.

That's news to me.. I can't do it and never was able to ... as far as I can remember.. even with both versions 2003 and 2007 on my computer and at home, I don't think I ever could do that.... .

Oh, nevermind me....I can't seem to drag diagonally and get values in all of those cells...it goes either up/down, or left/right, not both ways at once.
