    Searching

I have a spread sheet that has 24 columns and 373 rows. I need to know how to search through and pull out the number of times something occurs.

    Example.

I need to be able to search and find how many times a particular name and date occur in the same row. Although the name and date are in separate columns.

Can I do this with a formula?

It sounds as if you want a countif formula. However, if you want to count using multiple criteria, you need to use DCount, or an array formula.

This link is a great resource to help explain what you want to do. http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/count-if.htm

The DCount method is the easiest to implement and understand, so I would start there. If you attach a sample workbook, I can be of more help.
