    Excel database lookup problems

    =IF($N$29="","",+VLOOKUP($N$29,'P:\Production\Our inventory Shop Orders\[sku_numbers.xlsx] items'!$A$2:$W$3000,16,FALSE))

That is the command I have. Sometimes excel looks up the information correctly but most of the time it spits out NA or all 0's. I can hit F2 TAB and then select the file and the information will come in correctly and hitting Ctrl Alt F9 will fill the rest in. That's my way around the error, I need to know how to not get the error in the first place.

    Thanks

Do you have Automatic Calculations on?

Go to Tools|Options and in Calculation tab, select Automatic.

In XL2007, go to Formulas tab and then select Automatic from the Calculation Options dropdown
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Are you opening in XL2003? If that is the case, it could be the communication between the 2 file types? I am not sure, unless I can see the whole thing for myself.... by the way, you don't need the + before VLOOKUP...
