    Too many array formulas

hi, please find attached a spreadsheet. when i copy cells A5:AO5 and paste those cells in the range A6:AO200 and then save in excel 2003 format i get the too many array formulas refering to other spreadsheets warning. but the range names i have defined are in the same spreadsheet so why do i still get this warning?

any help would be much appreciated.
    thanks

    Re: too many arry formulas

    Hi,

Seems to work OK for me. They copied down and the file saved, (and re-opened) without any problems using 2003, albeit that the calculations take half a minute or so.

Are you perhaps saving across a network?

What exactly is the object of the exercise since there may be a more efficient way of achieving it?

Hi freshgreenchilli and welcome to the forum,

You are trying to copy 36 array formulas to 6984 other cells. Array formulas are memory intensive to begin with. I'm wondering if you have enough memory in your machine. Things should slow down.

    Re: Too many array formulas

thanks for the responses. I am using 2007 and saving it in 97 to 2003 excel format. maybe thats the problem. I just took it to a machine with 2003 and did the same copying proceedure and no problem.

memory seems ok tho i agree its not the most efficient way to do what i'm doing.

I'm going to work on the 2003 computer now instead which should sort it. but still wondering why it came up with that warning in 2007.

    thanks for your help
