By the word "quark" as a problem or error or bug, lets think about it. Excel has been dealing with these problems for about 20 years and have improved their code with each new release and each Office SP.

I think they are more correct than us about how they deal with things. All we have to do is understand their reasoning and follow it.
In the past, in doing Pivot Tables I get a count instead of a Sum, like I'd expect. It is normally because I have some text in the middle of my numbers. I believe there are very few "quarks" left in the Excel logic.
