conditional formating not working

Hi all..
i want a cell to change from % format to $ when the value of another cell is 1 or 2!

I do enter formula conditional formatting:
=B6=1 do % formating...

then for the same cell
=b6=2 do $ formatting...

I change the selection but the formatting remains the same!!

Please outline the XL version you're using this with (better yet add this to your profile) - presumably XL2007 or later ?

works for me - I get 20% if D15 = 1, $0.20 if D15 = 2 else 0.2

Are you running with Automatic Calculation ?

yep.. i checked that twice.. ok ..then i ll check if my file is too heavy..and overloads
