Excel 2007 : Repeating part of a Cell

Hello,

Not sure how to explain what i want but here is an example:

3B-50
3B-88
3B-99
3B-101
3B-568

I do not want to have to enter "3B-" over 200 times. Is there a way i can format cells to make my life easier? The numbers after the "3B-" are random.

Hi,

Assuming you're going to type your data in column A, in B1 enter ="3B-"&A1, and copy down.

For example I want to be able to just type "508" and when i enter it, it will show up at 3B-508. Just like you would enter a date as "20 dec 10" and it will format to "December 20, 2010".

If it's an aesthetic issue you can use a Custom Format: "3B-"General

Underlying values remain just the numbers as entered.

If you wish to physically alter the constants as they are entered you will need to use VBA (change event).
