Dynamic name list and comparing two columns of text?

    Hi,

For my first problem, I have the first column from a pivot table which may change length from time to time, and i want to exactly reproduce that first column from the pivot table as a column on another worksheet. So as the pivot table updates, so to does the column on the other worksheet. I have used the offset function to make a dynamic named list except it only works if they are on the same row. The pivot table column starts on A3, and i want the new column on the other worksheet to start on A2, at the moment it wants to put the value from the pivot table row A3 on A3 of the new column, whereas i want it to be on A2.

Secondly, i have 2 columns of text, about half of the entries in both columns contain the same terms. I want to have the 2 columns side by side, and make a third column that searches for which entries are repeated in both columns and lists them in a 3rd column, as it is only the repeated entries i want to use for subsequent calculations.

Any help with these would be greatly appreciated, its for my job and i've been racking my brains about it all day.

    Cheers

Try the link below on your first problem. You can create a dynamic name range

I suggest countif in your second problem.

    Thanks for the reply,

The first problem is not a particularly big deal, but the second problem, where I need to find out which entries (text) in the first column have matching entries in a second column continues to elude me. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
