    share macros over network drive

    Hey all,

Someone else in this forum wrote this about sharing macros over network:

Essentially, all you do is put all your code in a new workbook, and then do
a SaveAs with a file type of xla (at the foot of the list). The xla file is
then installed (Tools>Add-Ins>Browse and find it).

There is no way to save as xla file from save as menu in excel 2007.

    Thanks for response.

Ok I see it. I save as xla. Now what? What's supposed to happen that everyone can share it from their own computer?

Now you follow the rest of the instructions you posted.

Each user has to install the addin, browsing to the shared folder.

Thanks for response but it didn't work. I went to ribbon > excel options > Add-ins > Manage: Excel Add-ins > Go > Browse > browsed for shared folder > checked it > clicked ok.

Then I went to view > macros and the macros were not there.

    Thanks for response.

Open the VB Editoe (Alt+F11) & see if your addin is listed there.

If everyone is using Excel 2007 the file should be saved as *.xlam
    Hope that helps.

Suggestion: Save the add-in as read-only to keep users from locking the file, so you can update it.
