    Protection sheets problem

    hello everyone,

Im a beginner with macro's and difficult formulas in excel and im learning trough this site how to do things but now im stuck on a problem which i cant find on this forum.

I have a problem with my protection. I'm aware that when I protect a sheet I cant change anything. I get the message that its protected and i cant change anything.

My problem is that i get the same message when i want to save the file as.... (other name). The message wont go away so i have to alt+ctrl+delete so that i can close Excel caus its stuck. The same problem i get is when i try to insert or change anything in my database sheet. This one is not protected because i want to change data here such as prices.

My workbook contains a database with ingredients and prices. i have a blanc recipe sheet were i fill in my ingredient with a drop down box. When a ingredient is chosen its searches the price in the database. This way i can calculate my productionprice. Ive now got around 10 sheets that are filled with recipes.

Is the connection between my protected recipes and my database the problem why i cant change mij database or save the file as....?

Hope someone can help me with this problem.

    Re: Protection sheets problem

Is the workbook protected, or just the sheets?
    Hope that helps.

Yes the workbook is protected. but i had the problem before i did this.

i was aware that i couldn't save as.....

so i unprotected all my sheets so i could password protect my workbook (wasn't possible when the sheets were protected).

But today i wanted to insert a new ingredient and so i found out i could change data in mu database

    Re: Protection sheets problem

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
