    Conditional formatting

Hi I would like to apply conditional formatting to a sequence of cells in a spreadsheet. I apply the condition to the first cell in the range. I want to chaneg font colour if a text value in an adjacent cell is specified. So I do this, and then drag out the spreadsheet to increase the rows of data. But the condition stays with the first cell. So, when I change the text value, ALL the implicated column changes font colour. How can I get around this?

    Re: Conditional formatting

Check the condition ... if it has dollar signs in the cell address (absolute address), remove them before dragging across.

    Lightbulb Re: Conditional formatting

There all different ways to do this

    1. Use format --> Conditional formatting

select the formula is from first drop list & type the formula as

=if(a1=1,true, false). (Specified value is in column A.)
Drag formula from lower right corner.

    2. Select entire data and then then enter the formula as given above

    3. Enter the formula in 1st cell and copy the formula with Format painter
    tool

    It is in slandered toolbar)

Select the first cell in whicg you have applied conditional formatting (Source)
    click on format painter tool
select the target range by dragging.

One of these should work , works on my computer.Office 2002)
