    Sorting by Color

I have a form that tracks shipments. I setup conditional formatting to easily tell me what the progress is. If the shipment has been shipped but not delivered, the cells for the row are blue, when delivered the cells turn red and once I confirm everything made it in one piece the cells go gray. I add new shipments at the bottom of the sheet and then sort it. Thing I keep running into is that if there are no cells that are red, excel changes the color in the sorting to gray and then throws up a error that I am sorting by the same color twice. I then have to delete that row in the sorting and then add it back once I have cells that are red again. Is there a way to just have excel keep the sorting colors static and not change depending on the sheet?

    Hi,

I can't quite picture your problem. Can you upload the workbook or at least a representative sample.

Are you using the formula is option in the CFs?

Yes I am using conditional formatting. When you look at the spread sheet, you can see that the sorting works fine since all the colors are present. But if you put a 5 next to the yellow date (2nd row - Richmond), it will cause the formatting to change from orange to gray. If you try to sort after that, you will see to sort by gray cell color instead of Orange.

*Previously I said the color was red but it is actually orange.
