    Data to graph

    Hi everyone,

I have a lot of points that I want to make a line graph for. I have it working just the way I want but I want the data to change based on the number of points I have and the number of points can change from version to version. For example, the first day I might have 80 data points so my range goes from $A$1:$A$80. The next day I might have 115 points but I don't want to have to go in and change the cell references each time, I want the graph to just be able to tell how many points there are and change the references accordingly. Is this possible?

    Thanks!

    Will

Why don't you just set your range so it goes to 8000?

Search forum for 'dynamic named ranges' plenty of examples of auto expanding charts

If I just set the range to 8000 (or 200, which would work for me), it plots 200 data points so I get lots of points with y values of 0. I will play around with the named data ranges, thanks Andy.

    Re: Data to graph

Still can't get it to work for me. I am sure there is just something little I am not doing but I am not a total Excel expert by any means. I have attached a little sample workbook. What I would like to do is have the chart update as I add in new months and sales in columns A and B. This isn't exactly what I am trying to do but it would give me a walkthrough for what I am actually shooting for.

Thanks a lot, sorry for the easy questions. I am sure this stuff is pretty elementary for Excel gurus.

First check the 2 named formula.

Then use the Source data dialog to see how the named ranges are used to specify the data
