Can't Delete Box

I'm maintaining this file created by someone else, and there's these boxes... and I can't delete them. I've tried everything I can think of. I've uploaded an example below to see if anyone can figure out the magical trick to deleting these objects.

I should add, I can't even select the object. That's the main problem.

Do Ctrl+G

Click on Special

Choose Objects

Click OK

Hit Delete

This will delete ALL objects on the sheet!

To select one of them you can type in the Name Box: Check Box 5 and hit Enter

The last one on the right will be selected. While it is selected you can resize it to a larger size. Once it is large enough, after deselecting, you can right click on it to select it.
