Excel 2007
I am not sure if this is possible or not, but I am trying to create a spreadsheet that will automatically calculate the sum of multiple values based on the context of another column.
I am attached a example spreadsheet of what I am trying to complete, but I am also going to put a rough example here:
Category 1 -- 4
Category 2 -- 3
Category 1 -- 1
Category 1 -- 8
Category 2 -- 5
Category 2 -- 2
Category 1 Totals -- [ =4+1+8 ]
Category 2 Totals -- [ =3+5+2 ]

The function you want is SUMIF().
=SUMIF(A:A, "Category 1", B:B)
In your workbook, put A in F2 then this in G2:
=SUMIF(C:C, F2, D:D)
