Forcing a chart to use the numbers I want

    Hi,

So basically what I have is a chart like the one you can see in the attached image.
Now I don't want the chart to show all these numbers (10, 15, 20 etc.), but only show the numbers I wrote down (to the left): 1, 5, 12, 24, 35 and 40.

    How do I do that?

    Thanks,
    David

Do you mean you want to control what numbers are shown on the Y axis?

Excel allows you to choose min, max, and intervals, but not specific values for Y-axis display.
How dynamic is your chart? You could suppress the Y-axis and superimpose a graphic to replace it, but that is a workaround and won't change if your data is updated.

(You can manipulate your category values to effectively do that for X-axis, but Y-axis won't show categories.)

I know this isn't exactly what you want, but you can show data labels over each data point to show the Y value. They will appear over the point itself, rather than on the Y-axis, but it may get you where you need to be.

Yeah I saw that option. I'll just stick to the automated numbers tho.
    Thanks.

Just use a secondary data series to provide the custom Y axis
