    Circular Reference Workaround

Hi, i have created a table with drop down cells with names of person and rate. I am creating "Groups" with the person in it and calculates the total rate that becomes a group rate.
Now, im trying to pick list the "Group1, etc" and put it in its Group as well. Any tip on how to overcome this Circular reference error?

Please see attached excel to see much clearly what im trying to arrive. thanks

You need to use the actual range in the formula, you are using the entire column and therefore including B8 and B9 in the vlookup formula
