    Standardize Mailing Address

Hello All, I have a mailing list with the Company name, Address, City, State, Zip, Country - each in their own columns. Im trying to sort our duplicates by fist standardizing the format of the mailing addresses

IE 123 Main St. would not show the same as 123 Main Street ( 1st, first / Ave, Avenue- ect ect)

Is there a macro I can use to "standardize" the format of the mailing address, and then I can sort out matching duplicates to clean up the list?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Standardize Mailing Address

I've had to do this before, and it's not fun. The best way I found was to apply a data filter to all the columns and then use the Text Filter "Contains" and type in whatever you want to change (e.g., Street). Then look down the list to see all the instances of the word. If there are no instances that shouldn't be changed, then just do a Find/Replace for how you want the word to appear.

Sorry it's not a better solution, but hopefully someone else chimes in.
