Hi I have a spreadsheet where I will be using 5 different categories in the the first column and text relating to these labels in the other columns.

The details in the other columns will take up different amounts of rows. I want to be able to sort the data in order of the text labels in the first column but this only seems to work when the data in the other columns only consist of a single row. Any more rows and the extra text is left on its own at the bottom of the table. Is there anyway to do this? I am relativley unexperienced with Excel (its been a while anyway), would I need to use/ write a macro for it?. Thanks for any help you can give! Ed.
