Shared Workbook - Remove User List Question

I have a shared workbook which is used by others occasionally. When I go to edit it, I need to change it from shared to exclusive use. When on the Remove User dialog box, there are always many users listed which do not have the file open. It seems as excel shows users that have had the file open in the past, but do not currently have the file open.

Just wondering if this has happened to others and if there is a fix.

    Thanks.

nope !no fix thats the way it is. periodically clean user lists, it's not unusual to see the same user 2 or three times. never quite worked out why, probably coz they log off without closing excel.i have noticed that once they start creeping in thats when shared workbooks become unstable. so its good periodically to unshare then reshare. to clean things up.
