Smile Help with dependant drop downs

Good morning all. I'm trying to create dependant drop down boxes. Here's the situation...

I have a list of 3 columns. The columns are partsnumber, description, category. It's a long list. I want to be use a drop down to select description & then the parts number automatically fills in, as well as the category. I've done these before but for some reason, my mind is running a blank on this. can anyone help me out? Please? :-) Thank you!

I am not sure I follow.

Do you just want another data validation in column B and C to show the partsnumber and category lists?

Dependent Lists means, once you select an item from list 1, then list 2 populates with only relevant items to the selection in A1. Here I don't see that correlation.

Or do you just want the corresponding item to popup, with a formula

    e.g.

    =INDEX(partsnumber,MATCH(A6,description,0))

    and

    =INDEX(category,MATCH(A6,description,0))
