Excel 2007 - "Find" is really slow

I am trying to run a "find" (ctrl-f) on a worksheet with about 3000 line items. When i type in the "find what" criteria and hit "find next", excel take about 30 seconds to locate the item.

The same search is usually almost instantaneous.

I have spent the better part of this morning searching online and this forum for an answer but i have not been able to find anything to help.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I having not encountered this. Here are the things I would look at to troubleshoot.

Can you post the file here?

How large is the file? A very large file size may increase search time (regardless of number of rows).

What is in the rows? How many columns are in use? If you have a huge number of formulas it may increase the time to do just about anything.

Are you see an indicator in the status bar that that a recalculation is occurring? A very large, complex workbook with lots of formulas can take a long time to recalculate, which might be occurring when you intitiate a search.

But no, I don't recognize this as a well-known problem with a pat answer.
