Uppercase = (This) Lowercase = (That)

    Hello all,

I'm hoping that someone will be able to point me in the right direction.

Currently I have a HUGE spread sheet with over 20450 rows.

This spread sheet is using vlookup's to gather its information from another sheet.

The problem I have is the vlookup is looking up reference numbers which relate to a customer name. E.g Ref 123 = Customer 1.

Some have Junior and Senior customers, but both use the same reference numbers. They are defined via CAPITALS which = Senior and Normal which = Junior.

    E.g

    Reference Number: 321 = CUSTOMER 1 (Senior)
    Customer 1 (Junior)

So my problem is - say CUSTOMER 1 (uppercase) had 20 products delivered but Customer 1 (lowercase) had 12 products delivered. My vlookup is putting 20 products - because both CUSTOMER 1 and Customer 1 have the same reference number.

Is there a way I can define the vlookup to acknowledge that the CUSTOMER 1 - is a Senior account and that Customer 1 is a junior account?

Without this method, it's a case of typing each value correctly, which as you can imagine takes hours.

    Really would appreciate some advice.

    Thanks all for your time.

    Hi uscoobyk

    Welcome to the forum

You would do best to post a sample workbook showing Before and After, or a condition that suits.

It should clearly illustrate your problem and not contain any sensitive data.

    Cheers

    VLOOKUP is not case sensitive
    Hope that helps.

If the VLOOKUP is only looking up the reference number, then how should it tell any difference? 321 is 321, after all.
