Average a range according to contents of another cell in row

I have a several rows of data. Column G contains numbers and Column E contains the letter M or F. I want to average all the numbers in Column G that have a M in the same row in Column E. I'm sure this can be done but I'm not sure which function(s) best suit it.

Note restricted range when using Array - keep as lean as possible.

If by any chance you're using XL2007 onwards see AVERAGEIF function
