    Simplest:just subtract =SUM(D2:D23)-D12

    Thanks, that's great.
Are there any other ways of doing it?
I am trying to ascertain whether an error was infact an error or intentional.
    Thanks

I'll try to be a bit more specific, well kind of.
Someone has a shopping list, next to it the cost with the running total autosumed at the bottom.
The bread for $1.60 is listed, but somehow, the autosum total is total minus the $1.60?
Can this in someway be a program error, or does it need to be manually done ?

And yes in response to private message, you did know well.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
