I recently inherited a spreadsheet which uses complex intersection formulas. They are typically named formulas.
An example is shown below:
='kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$B$3='kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$CW$3 'kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$CW5 'kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$B$3='kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$CX$3 'kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$CX5 'kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$B$3 'kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!
I think I have a basic understanding of the intersection function (arguments separated by spaces), but the above is new territory that doesn't quite make sense.
I invite greater experts to read through my interpretation and question below. Please help sharpen my understanding.
I see:
* Six arguments separated by spaces
* The spaces are acting as intersection operators
* Two of the arguments are logical inquiries ('kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$B$3='kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$CW$3 and 'kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$B$3='kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!$CX$3)
* The final argument appears to be an incomplete reference ( 'kWh per Sq Ft by Region'!)
Interestingly, this function does not generate errors.
Rather, it seems to effectively intersect and report whatever value is in the $CX column.
My question: what is Excel supposed to do with the intersection of a logical and an address?
My mission is to "simply" the originator's work.
Any assistance is valued.
Gratefully,
Chris
