    Stretching columns

    Hey All,

I know I can go to the top of excel and stretch a whole column with ease but is it possible to just stretch one cell? Like go to line 10 and go across to G and just stretch the one little box rather than the whole G column?

IF so how do I do it?

    Good evening mikejones

What you are describing sounds very much like merged cells, which you set from the cells format dialog, but believe me you don't want to go there. They will undoubtedly cause all kind of problems in future and be more trouble than they're worth.

Can you explain why you want to do this?

Dragging a cell isn't possible.. Why you need to do that any specific reason?

Well I need to make some charts. On the top I need to put a header. But the header stretches way longer then the little box I am given. if I stretch the whole column it messes up the rest of the words on the page.

How can I put a header up top without stretching the whole column? Or an image up top of a logo?

You do know that you can stretch / reposition the header box within a chart don't you? If you want to put the header above tyhe actual chart window, then use the centre across selection option (press Ctrl + 1, Alignment tab, Horizontal drop down box). It's a much better option than merging.
