Insert Date only from Date and Time Cell

I have a Excel 2010 spreadsheet (attached) that counts 1/2 days worked (12 hours) on a sheet called time worked.

Column B is the start time and date.
Column C has the end time and date.
Column E figures out the 1/2 day count.

    So far so good.

The next sheet is called Days.

I need column B cells to only insert the Date of Column B cells in the Time Worked sheet.
    The same for Column C.

It then needs to figure out in Column D the count of days in the current month.
Column E counts days in the next month.

I have the formula for Column D and E working but it will only work if the Date copies over as a Date only.

Right now I manually copy the date but if I link it then it counts partial time too and that screws up the formula.

The Days sheet shows an example of me copying the date manually in B3 and C3.
B4 and C4 link the dates and it messes up the formulas in D and E.

So how can I automatically copy the dates over and get my formula to work as in row 3?
