    Pasting Absolute Reference

Let's say in cell A1 I have a simple formula =(B1). (Meaning A1 is just taking whatever is in cell B1)

Is there a way to paste this formula into a different cell and have the formula remain =B1 rather than change according to where it is pasted?

I would like if there was a way to do this without using absolute reference $B$1.

    Hi,

You could highlight and copy the contents of the cell as it appears in the formula bar.

That can then be pasted without the reference being relative.

Alternately, you could use =INDIRECT("B1") which will remain constant regardless of paste position.
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1
