Graphs Not Displaying Correctly After Conversion from 2003 to 2007 Excel

    Hi all,

Has anyone had any issues with graphs not displaying correctly/disappearing when they convert a spreadsheet from Excel 2003 to 2007. I'm assuming I'm using a feature that is not available in 2007, but I'm not sure which one.

I have a bunch of dymanic graph spreadsheets. Each contains anywhere from ten to 45 graphs of statistical information. The graphs display the data based on the date I enter/select in cells on the parm worksheet. Most of the graphs appear to have disappeared and all I see is a blue square, no cell lines, no graph. A few of the graphs are fine, about 7 out of the 45 graphs in this particular spreadsheet. I also noticed that the display size is 10% and when I make it larger a box about 2 inches square is visable. It looks like my graph, but I can only see the a small portion of what is in it. I can't change anything in the box.

What I did was open the 2003 (.xls) spreadsheet in Excell 2007. Excel 2007 did the conversion. Then save it as a .xlsm spreadsheet. Then I opened the xlsm spreadsheet and the graphs were gone. The graphs were there when I opened the .xls in 2007.

I've attached two spreadsheets. One is the original and the second is the results of saving it as .xlsm. I had to delete most of the graphs and a good portion of the data to get the spreadsheet to 1 meg upload size. The .xls is a 8 meg spreadsheet and the .xlsm is a 2.9 Meg.

Re: Graphs Not Displaying Correctly After Conversion from 2003 to 2007 Excel

I've resolved my problem, which I originally thought were two separate issues.

    1. When I would save a *.xls file as a *.xlsx or */xlsm, I would lose most of the dynamic graphs that I had built. See thread "Graphs Not Displaying Correctly After Conversion from 2003 to 2007 Excel ". The graphs were there, just not visable.

    2. This thread was related to the graphs that were visable.

The solution turned out to be applying both Windows xp and Office 2007 patches. I went out and brought my system up to date on all patches. Once I did that, the all the graphs were visable and working. When I converted the spreadsheets to 2007, the spreadsheet name used to qualify the defined name was updated with the new suffix on the spreadsheet name (.xlsx or .xlsm). All the graphs were visable and working fine. I'n now moving ahead with the upgrade to Office 2007.
