    Leave Planner

need help in creating a leave planner for my team. There are currently 45-50 engineers. I want to automate the entire sheet. However, i am pretty new to excel so dont know how to do it. I want that if an employee wants to apply for leave in for eg. August and then september, he just enters the dates and it gets marked automatically. It does work but only for one month.

    Re: Leave Planner

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

    Re: Leave Planner

well, I have created a leave planner already to the best of my knowledge on excel. I am also attaching the same for your reference. Now if you look at this sheet, you can see that i have made it manual as of now. I want this to be automated in a way that if for eg. i enter leave for Abhishek Saurabh from 16th to 18th Aug, it should automatically turn the cell green. Then if I want enter leave again for Abhishek Saurabh in September, it should allow multiple entries and turn the cell green as well. Hope this helps

I can't see why you don't expand your Conditional Formatting Rules

    Re: Leave Planner

how can i do multiple formatting. I tried doing so but it takes only one. For eg. if =$D$6="V" then formatting is set to green colour fill. Then i set a formatting rule again for if=$D$6="A" then formatting is set to red colour fill. When i test, it only works for "V" but not for "A".

    Re: Leave Planner

Well you need to set the order of the rule, but only one rule can apply per cell

    Re: Leave Planner

Use the Rule Planner in the Conditional Format Wizard, the little arrows move the rule orders
