Conditional Format-r) based on the value of the beginning cell o

I would like to know how to format a row (with a color) based on the value of the beginning cell of that row.
ex. If cell B2="C6"(text not a cell) then make the row color light red.
Hope I made that clear and thanks in advance.

Try highlighting the row you want to change colour..going to conditional formatting

and pick formula is in the first drop down menu..

then in the formular box try typing =$B2="C6"

Then picking what colour you want it to go to in the format menu.

    Then click okay.

Im a bit of a novice myself but I think that should work..or someone will tell me im wrong :D

I should have added that the B column has multiple rows that need to be checked for 6 different conditions and then different colors added to the row depending on the value of the b column.

Hello Mike, what you should do here is to use the conditional format. This will give you a color you choose in a row. On your Home Tab click on Conditional Format you will see about 8 options. Since you like to highlight a row to meet a condition then you click on Highlight Cell Rules, another section opens with more option then click on Text That Contains...That will highlight your row. Hope this helps.
