Post comparing two letter (grades) values

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to compare two columns which contain a TARGET GRADE and a PREDICTED GRADE and do a count on how many grades in the TARGET GRADE column are greater/less than in the PREDICTED GRADE column.

I normally use the SUMPRODUCT function ... something like below (to count how many grades in both columns are greater than C Grades).

but that won't work with what I need to do above? or will it?

    Hope my question is clear.

Re: comparing two letter (grades) values

If we assume C is Target and D is Predicted then to count how many Targets are less than the Predicted
(note: by less than we mean letter in C precedes that in D - ie Predicted worse than Target [presumably - ie A better than B])

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(C2:C110<D2:D110))

    Hi,

That seems to have sorted it.

    Thank you very much.
