Classify data values

Hi,
I'm new on this forum and not a Excel expert... so I'd like your help to solve the following problem...

I have a list of years, e.g.:

1420, 1460, 1500, 1500, 1500, 1580, 1600, 1600, 1670, ...

and I have a list of year ranges, e.g:

1400/1500 (1), 1500/1600 (2), 1600/1700 (3), ...

I'd like automatically to assign each year to his range of belonging using some formula. For the example above the result should be:

(1), (1), (1), (1), (1), (2), (2), (2), (3)

Maybe with the attached file is easier to understand the example...
