    date/color coding question

Hey, I'm in the military and was just tasked with keeping a gun tracker in excel. I have a cell (A1) with a date, say its 1 Dec 10. I would like excel to color code (color fill) it green when the current date is month out from 1 Dec 10, color code it yellow when the current date is the same month as 1 Dec 10, and color code it red when the current date is past 1 Dec 10 (aka expired.) Any help would be greatly appreciated since I have a very limited knowledge on microsoft excel. We currently run the 07 edition.
    Thanks

    re: date/color coding question

You need three separate conditional format formulas applied to A1:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    Select A1,
    Select Conditional Formatting, New Rule
Choose "Use a formula to determine which cells to format"
