Copy another cell when selecting from a list

I'm making a custom template and in an attempt to keep it to one page I am using 'List' with draw down arrows to select from. The 'list' were created from the tool bar 'Data' then 'Validation'. I created the list elsewhere on the sheet and plan to hide it.
When the user makes their selection from the list (if possible) I want that selection to automatically appear in another cell on the sheet. Is this possible?

If I understand you correctly something like the attached would seem to do what you are describing.
