    Unhappy Change cell colour according to weekday?

    Hi All,

    This is probably REALLLY easy to you guys but I've been stuck on this for 2 days on-and-off!

    I have cells (V10:X12) merged as "=TODAY()"
    I have cells (F18:I27) merged as an external link. This link is to be checked by my staff every Monday.

    All I want to do is have the F18 cells to have a RED background on Mondays and ORANGE background every other day of the week. The font can stay the same!

    How do I do it?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Conditional Formatting with the Weekday Function. Attach an example workbook
    Hope that helps.

    I think this may help you to get an idea on what to do.

    As Roy said, u can use conditional formatting.

    1. Assuming (and it is very important) that F18 has a date. The you can click on F18, then go to Format>Conditional Formatting.

    2. On condition 1, select "Formula is", and type the following: =WEEKDAY(F18)=2. Then click on "Format...", got to Patterns tab, and select red, then OK

    3. Click on Add>>, On Condition 2, select Formula Is, and type: =WEEKDAY(F18)<>2. Then click on "Format...", got to Patterns tab, and select Orange (beside red), then OK

    As long as you don't use absolute references ($ signs in your cell references), then you can copy the FORMAT to other cells.
    Hope this helped you

    EDIT: Welcome to the forum by the way . (WHERE IS HERTS)
